Valiente Upsets Defending
C.V. Whitney Champions
Orchard Hill 14-11

Valiente defeated the C.V. Whitney Cup 26-goal defending champions, Orchard Hill in a close 14-11 victory. Matias Torres Zavaleta received Most Valuable Player for his extraordinary play throughout the game. "Sugar" played by Cambiaso and owned by Valiente was honored as Best Playing Pony.

Spats/Pony Up and Kings Hill Advance to Finals at Palm City Polo Club

Sensational semifinal tournament action took place at Palm City Polo Club the last weekend in February. In two outstanding matches, Spats/Pony Up defeated Boca Polo in sudden death overtime 6-5 to advance to the finals of the 6-10 Goal league against Mayer Ranch. Kings Hill won over Precise Property, Inc. 4-2.5 and a slot in the 3-6 Goal league finals against TuffRider.

Mark Bellissimo Announces Expansion of 2017 Gladiator Polo™ League Presented by U.S. Polo Assn.

Mark Bellissimo, Managing Partner of the International Equestrian Group (IEG), announced that the International Polo Club Palm Beach has dramatically expanded the 2017 winter Gladiator Polo™ League schedule. Bellissimo commented, "This does not displace our core interest in high-goal grass polo, but rather is a concerted effort to create a robust and critical gateway to bring more players, patrons, spectators, and sponsors into the sport of polo."

In Memory of Sunny Hale

Sunset "Sunny" Hale, a passionate ambassador for the players and horses of polo, passed away on February 26, in Norman, Oklahoma, after a battle with cancer at the age of 48. Considered to be one of the greatest female polo players in the world, Sunny was an avid supporter of women's polo and role model for many women in the sport. She will be greatly missed.

Museum's Polo Hall of Fame Celebrates New Inductees

On Friday, February 17, the stars of polo gathered at the Museum of Polo to welcome the latest inductees to the Hall of Fame; 10 goal living legend Mariano Aguerre; polo great of the 50s and 60s John "Jackie" Murphy, Museum of Polo visionary and founder Leverett S. Miller, wise old Texas horseman and mentor George Miller; and two gallant equine heroes of the sport - the courageous Army remount mare, Chicken; and Charles Smith's multi-award winning mare Nebraska Sunset.

A 20 year tradition at the Costa Careyes Resort is to celebrate Chinese New Year, this year it is the Year of the Firey Rooster. Players from USA, Argentina, Portugal, Italy, France and Mexico came to play in the four team tournament over the weekend of January 26-29.

$50,000 National 12-Goal Tournament Begins at Grand Champions Polo Club

Players gathered at Wellington National Golf Club to draw positions for the fourth annual $50,000 National 12-Goal Tournament at Grand Champions Polo Club.
